The Long Beach Police Department’s SWAT Team has ended their search following a fatal shooting Monday morning near downtown Long Beach, according to authorities.

The SWAT Team concluded their search with negative results, according to LBPD officials via Twitter. The streets near the 800 block of Cedar Avenue—the site of the shooting—remain closed as the homicide investigation continues, officials reported Monday afternoon. 

As of about 5:15PM on Monday, June 22, Pacific to Magnolia Avenues and 8th to 10th Streets remained closed due to the continuing investigation, according to the LBPD’s Twitter page.

10:43AM | A man was fatally shot near downtown Long Beach Monday morning, according to Long Beach Police Department (LBPD) officials.

Officers were dispatched near the 800 block of Cedar Avenue at about 9:00AM, with regard to a shooting, LBPD spokeswoman Marlene Arrona said.

Authorities found an adult man dead at the scene, she said.

The investigation is ongoing, with street closures from Cedar to Chestnut Avenues, from Eighth to Tenth Streets, according to the LBPD Twitter page.
