UPDATE | A man linked to the fatal stabbing of a middle-aged man in Alamitos Beach this morning has been identified and arrested, according to officials.

A release from the Long Beach Police Department (LBPD) states that 52-year-old Long Beach resident William Wilson has been arrested for murder and subsequently booked into Long Beach Jail, held on $2 million bail.

According to the release, police were dispatched at 2:10AM to the 1400 block of East 3rd Street to assist Long Beach Fire Department (LBFD) personnel with a stabbing victim.

Upon arrival, officers discovered an adult male, a 72-year-old resident of Long Beach, with a stab wound to the upper torso. He was transported to the hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries and died.

The investigation found that two roommates got into a heated altercation, which resulted in the stabbing of the victim. The suspect—Wilson—was arrested.

The Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office will identify the victim and notify next of kin.

On 09/19/2016 at 11:11AM | A middle-aged man was fatally stabbed Monday morning at 2:00AM in Long Beach in Alamitos Beach, dying a short time later, according to the Los Angeles County coroner’s Assistant Chief Ed Winter.

The man, who was in his 60s, was transported from the scene of the crime on the 1400 block of East 3rd Street to the hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

The man’s name was withheld, pending notification of his relatives. It is not immediately known if anyone has been arrested or linked to the incident.
