Officers responded to a local hospital shortly after 6:45 p.m. Sunday to contact the shooting victim, according to Long Beach police.

When officers arrived, the man told them he had been walking on Long Beach Boulevard near 49th Street when he heard gunshots and was struck in the upper and lower body, police said.

The man then went on his own to a hospital for treatment of the wounds, which were not believed to be life-threatening, police said.

It was not clear if the victim was struck by stray gunfire or if he was the intended target.

Officers searched the area near Long Beach Boulevard and 49th Street but were unable to locate a crime scene.
