A man was wounded in a shooting that broke out during an argument Sunday night in North Long Beach, authorities said.
The shooting happened around 11:38 p.m. in the 2500 block of East 67th Street, according to the Long Beach Police Department.
Police say three men were on a sidewalk in the area when two suspects approached them and started an argument, police said. The argument escalated and one of the suspects shot one of the men in the lower body, police said.
Fearing for their safety, the victims ran away, police said, but the wounded man later returned to the scene of the shooting while officers were investigating. Long Beach Fire Department personnel rendered aid to the man and then transported him to a local hospital, police said, adding that his injuries are not considered life-threatening.
No arrests have been made as the suspect, whom police described only as men, fled in a vehicle before officers arrived. However, police said they found evidence at the scene, including bullet casings and strike marks.
No other suspect information is known and the motive for the shooting remains under investigation, police said.
