Police are looking for whoever shot and wounded a man inside a West Long Beach home overnight.

The crime happened around 1:05 a.m. Thursday on Pacific Coast Highway near Caspian Avenue, police said.

After the shooting, someone flagged down a nearby officer, and the victim was taken to a local hospital in stable condition, LBPD spokeswoman Jennifer De Prez said.

Investigators are still trying to determine who shot the man and why, De Prez said.

The shooter fled before police arrived, and no suspect description was available, she said.
