Medics rushed a man to the hospital in critical condition after someone stabbed him in an alley near Cherry Avenue and 56th Street, according to Long Beach police.

Police said the attack happened around 8:30 p.m. Monday, which is when officers were dispatched to the crime. At the scene, they found a man with multiple cuts to to his upper body, Long Beach police spokesman Ivan Garcia said.

Garcia said it appears the man was walking in the alley when a male suspect approached and stabbed the victim with “a bladed object.”

Police are still investigating but so far don’t have any information on a motive or further description of the attacker.
