Long Beach police say they’re investigating after a man was shot Tuesday night near Lincoln Elementary School.
The shooting, according to authorities, happened sometime around 8 p.m. in the 1100 block of Anaheim Street, just west of Alamitos Avenue.
The victim was in the area when a man approached him and an argument started between the two, police said. It’s not clear what sparked the argument, but at some point, the man shot the victim in the lower and upper body before fleeing the scene, police said.
Officers were called soon after to the 1400 block of Lewis Avenue where they found the wounded victim, police said. Long Beach Fire Department personnel responded to the scene and transported him to a local hospital, police said, adding that his injuries did not appear to be life-threatening.
A motive for the shooting and suspect information is not available at this time, police said.
