A man was hospitalized in critical condition Sunday night after being stabbed during a fight in Long Beach’s Cambodia Town neighborhood, according to authorities.

Police say the stabbing was reported just after 10:30 p.m. in the 1300 block of Walnut Avenue.

Two men were outside in the area when they got into a fight with a group of men, according to the Long Beach Police Department.

At some point during the fight, at least one person in the group stabbed one of the two men multiple times in the upper body with an unknown object, police said.

The two men left the scene and checked themselves into a local hospital where officers responded shortly after, police said.

The man who was stabbed was listed in critical but stable condition while the other had injuries to the upper and lower body that were not considered life-threatening, police said.

The other people involved in the fight, meanwhile, fled before officers arrived, police said.

No suspect information is known at this time and a motive for the stabbing remains under investigation, according to authorities.
