Long Beach police are looking for a driver who they say hit a man with her car while he was using a crosswalk in the Washington neighborhood.

Officers found an unconscious man with injuries to his upper torso on Pacific Avenue at West 16th Street at about 8:25 Wednesday night, police spokeswoman Jennifer De Prez said. Paramedics transported him to a local hospital in critical condition.

Police said the victim was walking eastbound in a marked crosswalk across Pacific Avenue when a woman driving a silver four-door sedan driving southbound on Pacific Avenue struck him with her car.

“The driver of the vehicle, an adult female suspect, temporarily stopped after the collision then fled the scene southbound on Pacific Avenue prior to officer arrival,” De Prez said.

Police are still investigating and looking for the suspect.
