The Long Beach Police Department says a 27-year-old man was arrested for assaulting an officer who was helping detain a DJ playing music too loudly in Belmont Shore.

Police said the situation began around 1:30 a.m. Saturday in the middle of Second Street’s popular entertainment district.

Officers headed to the area after they got “multiple complaints of loud music,” LBPD spokesperson Alyssa Baeza said.

According to Baeza, officers detained a DJ who was playing amplified music on the sidewalk outside a business in the 5200 block of Second Street.

While police were detaining the DJ and investigating, a man from a nearby crowd assaulted an officer, Baeza said.

The man was arrested, according to Baeza, who said police also cited the DJ for “loud music from an amplified speaker.”

Nobody was hurt, Baeza said.
