A man told police he was home when three men with guns broke in, pistol whipped him and shot into the floor early Thursday morning, officials said.

Police were first called to the home in the 1800 block of 57th Street, which is next to Harte Elementary School, at about 12:50 a.m., police spokeswoman Allison Gallagher said. He told police what happened and that he didn’t know the men and that one of the suspects fired into the floor of his home. They fled the home in a dark-color sedan before police got there, she said.

It’s unclear if they stole anything. Paramedics treated the victim at the scene for non-life threatening injuries, according to Gallagher.

Police are still investigating.
