A man was fatally shot in Long Beach early Thursday morning in an apparent gang-related incident, authorities said.

Officers responded to the 2100 block of Pasadena Avenue in the Poly High neighborhood at 12:41AM on Thursday, September 10, according to a press release from the Long Beach Police Department (LBPD).

Arriving police administered life-saving measures to the male victim, who was on the sidewalk suffering from a gunshot wound in the upper body.

Long Beach paramedics then transported him to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly after.

The victim’s identity is being withheld pending notification of relatives.

Officials believe the motive for the shooting appears to be gang-related.

The investigation remains ongoing.
