Police say a pedestrian died after a car struck him on Pacific Coast Highway near where it crosses the Los Angeles River.
The crash happened shortly before 6:40 p.m. Sunday on Pacific Coast Highway, just west of Golden Avenue, according to Long Beach police.
Police said a vehicle heading westbound on PCH struck the victim while he was attempting to cross the road, police said.
The victim, whose name was withheld pending family notification, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. Police said speed and distracted or impaired driving were not believed to be factors in the crash.
