A man was robbed at gunpoint early Sunday morning in the Washington neighborhood of Long Beach, authorities said.

Officers responded to the 1300 block of Cedar Avenue, which is just north of Anaheim Street, at 6:31 a.m., where they contacted the victim, who told them he was outside when he was approached by another man, the Long Beach Police Department said on its website.

The suspect threatened the victim with a gun and robbed him, according to the LBPD. As the victim ran away, he heard a gunshot, but he was not struck, police said.

The suspect fled the area in a vehicle before police arrived. Officers found evidence at the scene indicating that a shooting had occurred, police said
