A man has died from gunshot injuries he sustained during a shooting in North Long Beach Thursday afternoon, according to the Long Beach Police Department (LBPD).
Long Beach resident Roosevelt Keondrae Newton, 34, was pronounced dead a local hospital on Friday, December 11.
Officers were dispatched to Orange Avenue and Washington Street on Thursday, December 10 at 2:20PM regarding an assault with a deadly weapon call, according to LBPD spokeswoman Nancy Pratt.
Authorities are investigating the incident as possibly gang-related. The suspect is outstanding and a motive for the shooting is unknown.

Officers were dispatched to Orange Avenue and Washington Street on Thursday, December 10 at 2:20PM regarding an assault with a deadly weapon call, according to Long Beach Police Department (LBPD) spokeswoman Nancy Pratt.
The man, who sustained a gunshot wound to the upper body, was transported to a local hospital in serious condition by paramedics with the Long Beach Fire Department (LBFD), she said.
“The preliminary investigation indicated the victim was approached by a male subject who fired at the victim and fled before officers arrived,” officials stated.
Authorities are investigating the incident as possibly gang-related.
