Police say a man was arrested on suspicion of firing a gun into the air after getting into a fight along a popular stretch of Second Street last night.
The incident happened shortly before 1 a.m. Sunday near Second Street and Nieto Avenue, which is in the middle of Belmont Shore’s entertainment district crowded with bars and restaurants.
The suspected shooter got into a “physical altercation” with someone before firing a gun into the air, the Long Beach Police Department said in a statement on its website.
The shooter fled before officers arrived, according to the LBPD, but he returned to the scene and was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, negligent discharge of a firearm, battery, brandishing a firearm and carrying an undetectable firearm.
Police said the suspected shooter is a 34-year-old from Gardena. His bail was set at $35,000, police said.
