Long Beach police are investigating a shooting that left one man injured in North Long Beach this morning.

Officers were called to the scene at about 10:55 a.m. on the 100 block of East 69th Street, near the border with Compton, police spokeswoman Jennifer De Prez said. There, they found a man with a non-life threatening gunshot wound to his lower body.

Paramedics took the victim to a local hospital in stable condition as police officers set up a perimeter to search for the suspect who was only described as a man. Police were so far unable to find him, De Prez said.

“Preliminary investigation revealed the victim and suspect engaged in a confrontation with one another, which led to the shooting,” De Prez said.

It wasn’t immediately clear what the nature of the confrontation was about. Gang detectives are still investigating and gathering more information.
