A man told Long Beach police he was shot at by a group of male suspects Tuesday afternoon in the Washington neighborhood, authorities said.

Officers arrived on scene in the area of Locust Avenue and 14th Street at about 3:15 p.m. after receiving a call about shots fired. When they arrived, the victim told them he had been shot at but wasn’t injured, spokeswoman Jennifer De Prez said.

The officers found casings in the street but do not know what the motive of the shooting was, she said.

Gang detectives responded and the incident is still being investigated.
