Man shot at while sitting in his car, police say; no injuries reported

Long Beach officers were investigating a shooting in North Long Beach where a man was shot at while sitting in his vehicle, police say.

Officers were sent to the 6900 block of Long Beach Boulevard in western North Long Beach following a call about a shooting Friday at 6:40 p.m., police said.

When they arrived, police found a man who said he was sitting in his car when a suspect approached him in another vehicle and fired at him, according to the LBPD.

The man immediately drove away and did not sustain any injuries, police said. Officers located evidence of a shooting, including bullet casings, and no other injuries were reported.

The investigation is ongoing and is being investigated as gang related, according to the LBPD. Long Beach police define “gang-related” crime as any crime “committed for the benefit of, at the direction of, or in association with any criminal street gang.”
