A man was wounded in a shooting that broke out during an altercation Thursday afternoon in Long Beach’s Wrigley neighborhood, authorities said.

The shooting happened around 2:15 p.m. in the area of Hill Street and Locust Avenue, according to the Long Beach Police Department.

Two men were involved in a dispute in the area, which then escalated into the shooting, according to the LBPD.

The Long Beach Fire Department responded to the scene and took a victim to a local hospital with a gunshot wound to the upper body, police said.

An arrest has not been made, as the suspect ran away before officers arrived, police said.

Investigators in the area appeared to be focusing their investigation on a blue apartment complex at the southwest corner of the intersection. One witness said she saw paramedics giving aid to a man with a gunshot wound to the shoulder.
