A gunman shot and wounded a man he was trying to rob near Retro Row on Monday night according to Long Beach police.
Shortly before 10 p.m., officers responded to a report of a shooting victim down on Cherry Avenue between Fifth and Sixth streets, according to Long Beach police.
At the scene, officers found a man suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper body, police said. He was taken to a hospital for treatment of a non-life-threatening wound.
Investigators determined a man approached the victim and demanded his property before shooting him and then fleeing the scene, police said.
No description of the shooter was immediately available.
