Police are investigating a Friday night shooting near 15th Street and Dawson Avenue in Central Long Beach that left one man wounded.

Officers arrived at the scene around 9:20 p.m. and found a man who was shot in his lower torso. Paramedics transported him to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries, Officer Alvino Herrera said.

When officers talked to the victim at the hospital, he only confirmed the area where the shooting took place but was uncooperative with the rest of the investigation, Herrera said.

There were no witnesses to the shooting and gang detectives are investigating the incident, he said.
