A man escaped with a minor injury when a bullet came through his ceiling and struck him in the lower body as he lay in bed at home in Long Beach, authorities said Sunday.
Officers were dispatched at about 8:50 p.m. Saturday to a “shots” call in the 3600 block of Thornlake Avenue, one block east of Norwalk Boulevard in East Long Beach, police reported.
When they arrived, officers learned the man “was lying in bed when a bullet penetrated the ceiling and struck him, causing minimal injury,” police said. It’s not clear who fired the bullet or why.
“The motive and circumstances of the incident remain under investigation,” the Long Beach Police Department said.
