Long Beach police are investigating a shooting that left a man wounded along the railroad near South Street and Cherry Avenue on Wednesday night, authorities said.

Police officers got to the scene at about 11:15 p.m. to assist paramedics with a shooting victim, police spokeswoman Shaunna Dandoy said. There, they found a man with a non-life threatening gunshot wound to his lower body. Paramedics took him to a local hospital, she said.

Detectives started investigating the shooting, but do not have information on a suspect or motive yet, Dandoy said.
