A man told Long Beach police he was standing in the Coolidge Triangle area when someone approached him and shot him in his upper body Wednesday, officials said.

The victim fled on foot to the 6200 block of Long Beach Boulevard and called police at about 6:15 p.m., police spokeswoman Allison Gallagher said.

Paramedics took the victim to a local hospital to treat wounds that weren’t life-threatening, police said..

Police found evidence of a shooting in the area of East Barclay Street and Long Beach Boulevard, including a parked, unoccupied car that had been struck by bullets, Gallagher said. No one else reported being injured.

Investigators do not yet know the motive for the shooting or have any suspect information.
