A man was stabbed early this morning on a Metro train platform in Downtown Long Beach.
The stabbing happened at about 5 a.m. on the L.A. Metro stop near the intersection of Pacific Avenue and Fifth Street, according to Long Beach police.
A train operator saw the injured person lying on the platform and called 911 for help, a Metro spokesperson said in a statement.
The victim, a man in his 50s, was taken to a hospital for treatment of multiple stab wounds to his upper body, police said.
An update on his condition was not immediately available, and there was no suspect description provided.
Detectives were investigating a motive for the stabbing and the station was blocked off for the investigation.
A Line trains heading south were turned back at the Anaheim station. For Metro travelers heading north, a bus was taking passengers from the Pacific station to the Anaheim station, a Metro spokesperson said.
