UPDATED 6:15PM | The man who was found stabbed to death in his South Wrigley apartment Tuesday morning was identified by the Long Beach Police Department as Akheem Johnson, 27, of Long Beach.
The suspect, 29-year-old Bryant Keith Underwood of Lake Elsinore was booked for murder and is being held on $1M bail.
A motive is still unknown, but police say it appears that an argument escalated into a stabbing.
ORIGINAL 1:11PM | A man was stabbed to death early Tuesday morning and another man, his probable killer, was taken into custody, police said.
Police were called to the 2000 block of Locust Ave. at 1:20AM and arriving officers found the victim dead from a possible stabbing, said Long Beach Police Sgt. Brad Johnson. A man who was arrested while trying to leave the building was taken in for questioning as the probable suspect.
“Two small children were in the residence asleep at the time,” Johnson also said. The children were taken into protective custody, and will be reunited with their mother, who was at work when the killing occurred.
The relationships, if any, between the men and the woman and children were not immediately known and the incident remains under investgation.
