A man was killed today when he was hit by a pickup truck while he crossed Pacific Coast Highway in West Long Beach.
Police said the man was hit around 6:23 a.m. Friday at Hayes Avenue and Pacific Coast Highway. He died at the scene, according to the Long Beach Police Department.
Police said he was crossing Pacific Coast Highway when he was struck by an eastbound 2023 Ford F-150 driven by a 40-year-old Wilmington man, who remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.
Detectives said it remains unclear whether speed, distraction or impairment played a role in the collision.
The deceased man’s name was withheld pending notification of relatives.
