Police say they’re investigating a shooting near Del Amo Boulevard and Pacific Avenue that left a man wounded Thursday night.
In a statement, the Long Beach Police Department said the crime happened around 7 p.m. The victim was standing outside of his vehicle when an “unseen number of occupants” in an unknown vehicle approached him and shot him, police said.
The man was treated at a local hospital for non-life-threatening injuries to the lower body, police said.
The suspect or suspects, meanwhile, drove away from the area in an unknown direction, according to the LBPD.
It’s unclear what sparked the shooting, police said.
Thursday’s incident occurred two blocks from the site of an earlier shooting that left one man dead and resulted in two nearby schools being locked down on Monday.
