Long Beach police say a man was shot Thursday night but refused to tell officers details about the crime.
Officers were notified of the shooting just before 8 p.m. and responded to the 700 block of Newport Avenue, according to the Long Beach Police Department. The area is near the intersection of Redondo Avenue and Seventh Street.
When officers arrived in the area, they found the man with a gunshot wound to the lower body, police said. Police say the man was uncooperative and would not provide a statement to officers about the shooting.
Long Beach Fire Department personnel arrived at the scene and treated the man before transporting him to a local hospital, authorities said, adding that his injuries were not considered life-threatening.
The investigation is ongoing, police said.
