UPDATE | A GoFundMe page has been set up to help pay for funeral costs after a Long Beach woman and her 4-year-old daughter were gunned down Saturday night.

“Our family is heartbroken with this tragic event, and we hope that you can help us give these two beautiful souls a graceful resting place,” read a post from the site.

Carina Mancera, 26, and her daughter Jennabel Anaya were walking home with Anaya’s father, who just arrived home, on 9th Street and Locust Avenue when the shooting happened at about 10:20PM, Long Beach police officials stated. 

So far, $13,318 of a requested $25,000 has been raised on GoFundMe, as of Monday morning. 

On Monday, Long Beach police made a plea for the public’s help regarding the double homicide. 

Family, friends and neighbors gathered at the site of the shooting the day after for a vigil where a makeshift memorial was built.

8/7/16 at 7:29PM | A 26-year-old woman and her 4-year-old daughter were killed while walking home in downtown Long Beach Saturday night, after being struck by gunfire, according to authorities. 

A release issued by the Long Beach Police Department (LBPD) Sunday said Carina Mancera and her daughter, Jennabel Anaya were walking home with Anaya’s father, who had just arrived home, on 9th Street and Locust Avenue when the shooting occurred. 

Officers were dispatched at 10:20PM to the location, where they discovered the two victims struck by gunfire. Mancera was declared deceased at the scene by Long Beach Fire Department (LBFD) personnel, according to the release. 

Anaya was transported to a local hospital in critical condition and was pronounced dead this morning. 

The motive for the shooting is unknown and no suspect information is available at this time, the release stated. The investigation is ongoing.
