5:45PM | A 32-year-old Norwalk resident has been booked on charges of attempted murder on two police officers, evading a police officer and illegal possession of an assault weapon after allegedly firing at Long Beach police officers yesterday.
Currently being held on $1M bail, the suspect was also booked on charges of armed carjacking and kidnapping for the crimes that occurred earlier in the day in the City of Buena Park.
He is being accused of being in the car-jacked vehicle when he led police on a pursuit near Jordan High School. After colliding with a police vehicle, the suspect allegedly fired multiple times at the officers’ windows, prompting an officer to return fire.

Officer-Involved Shooting Leads to Car Chase, Possible Suspect Detained
August 28, 10:00AM | Yesterday at 2:46PM, Long Beach Police Department (LBPD) officers were fired upon after pursuing a suspect who alleged car jacked a vehicle in Buena Park.
LBPD officers were patrolling the area around Jordan High School near 63rd and Atlantic Ave. when they ran the license plate of a vehicle that indicated the vehicle was involved in an armed car jacking earlier that day in Buena Park.
According to Bradley Johnson of the LBPD, officers pursued the vehicle, eventually running head-on into it. It was then that the suspect in the car began firing multiple rounds into the windshield of police car, prompting an officer to return fire.
Fleeing the scene by vehicle, the suspect was then chased by officers where they had lost sight of the vehicle on the 91 freeway.
The vehicle was later discovered in the City of Bellflower, where an assault rifle was recovered and an adult male lingering near the vehicle was detained in possible connection to the situation.
Neither the suspect nor the officers were injured.
