A handgun was recovered and a motorist was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving after a two-vehicle crash in Long Beach, authorities said.
The crash occurred at about 9:20 p.m. Friday at the intersection of Pacific Coast Highway and Santa Fe Avenue, the Long Beach Police Department reported.
Arriving officers located the uninjured motorist who had contacted police at the scene.
“The driver who collided with the victim, a male adult suspect, was still on scene when officers arrived and was found to be driving under the influence,” police said.
Officers allegedly recovered a handgun and ammunition inside the suspect’s vehicle.
The suspect, who was determined to be barred from possessing guns or ammunition, was arrested and transported to the Long Beach City Jail for booking, authorities said.
The investigation was ongoing.
