Long Beach police used a Taser to help arrest a man who was naked from the waist down while throwing rocks near Claremont Avenue and Ocean Boulevard, officials said.

Officers were initially called to the area at about 10:41 a.m. today for a report of indecent exposure, police spokesman Brandon Fahey said.

When they arrived, officers found the man throwing rocks at a construction site, although it doesn’t appear the rocks hit anyone, according to police.

Police used the Taser when, “the suspect refused to comply with responding officers who were attempting to take him into custody,” Fahey said.

It’s not clear why the man was throwing rocks. It’s also unclear so far if the man was inebriated, under the influence of drugs or suffering from mental health issues, Fahey said.

Paramedics took the man to a local hospital to be medically cleared before being booked, as is usual when officers use force on someone, Fahey said.
