Dennis Michael McKenzie, a paroled sex offender who disappeared from his Long Beach halfway home after removing his GPS monitoring device, was located Wednesday night in Palm Springs.
In addition to removing his ankle monitoring device, authorities say McKenzie also allegedly made over 50 threatening and obscene phone calls in the past month to an 80-year-old victim he raped.
He was sentenced in 2004 to 70 years for his violation of sexual penetration of a victim with a foreign object by force or fear. He was paroled to 2200 West Wardlow Road in Long Beach, where he was last seen on Tuesday.
A felony no-bail warrant was issued for the McKenzie, who Megan’s Law’s website identified as 5’11”, 185 pounds with blue eyes and brown hair.
The search took San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department to the communities of Banning and Palm Springs and the Lake Arrowhead area where McKenzie has a history of frequenting.
