9:59AM | Parts of Cherry Avenue in Central Long Beach remained closed Wednesday morning as police investigated two shootings that left three men injured, authorities said.

At least one of the shootings was described as possibly gang-related.

Officers responded to the area near 15th Street and Cherry Avenue at 5:35AM on Wednesday October 14, in regard to a shooting, Long Beach Police Department (LBPD) spokeswoman Nancy Pratt said.

Two men were discovered with what appeared to be non-life threatening injuries and transported to a local hospital, according to Pratt.

According to a preliminary investigation the victims were walking down the street when they were approached and shot at by three suspects.

While officers investigated the incident at the scene as possibly gang-related, they were approached by a man who said he was shot at near 15th Street and Gaviota Avenue.

Authorities said that man sustained a minor injury and treated at the scene.

Officials do not know if the shootings are related.

Cherry Avenue, from 14th to 17th streets, are closed while the investigations continue, according to Pratt.
