A man was hospitalized after being shot in Central Long Beach Saturday night, but he refused to cooperate with police, according to authorities.

Officers responded to the shooting on Lemon Avenue near Pacific Coast Highway at about 9:20 p.m. on Sept. 14.

They encountered the victim who had been shot in the lower body, according to police spokeswoman Arantxa Chavarria. Paramedics also responded and transported him to a local hospital, where he was treated for wounds that didn’t appear to be life-threatening.

Because the victim did not cooperate with officers investigating the crime, there is no suspect information and no known motive for the shooting, Chavarria said.

Officers located casings at the scene. Detectives are investigating the incident.
