A woman died Wednesday morning after being hit by two cars on Seventh Street near Cal State Long Beach, authorities said.
The crash happened around 5 a.m. near Seventh Street and Pepper Tree Lane, which is between Campus Drive and Studebaker Road.
Police say the woman was running north across the eastbound lanes of Seventh Street when she was struck by a vehicle and landed in another lane where she was then hit by a second vehicle.
Afterward, the drivers of both vehicles pulled over and called authorities to the scene, police said.
Authorities found the woman lying in the eastbound lanes of traffic along Seventh Street, police said.
Long Beach Fire Department personnel pronounced her dead at the scene. Her identity was not immediately released as the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s office works to notify her relatives.
Both drivers, meanwhile, remained at the scene, and cooperated with the investigation, police said. Police said speed, distracted, or impaired driving do not appear to have played a role in the crash.
The crash closed down eastbound Seventh Street and the 22 Freeway entrance while police investigated. It has since been reopened, police said.
