A pedestrian was fatally struck on the northbound 710 Freeway Tuesday night in Long Beach.
California Highway Patrol officers were called at 8:34 p.m. to the freeway near the Long Beach Boulevard on-ramp where they found the pedestrian lying on the right side of the freeway, CHP Officer Sergio Garcia told City News Service.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
The CHP issued a SigAlert for the closure of the third and fourth lanes of the northbound freeway for several hours.
It’s not clear yet why the person was on the freeway or how the crash occurred.
