A 54-year-old Long Beach woman was being held today on $2.02 million bail on suspicion of fatally stabbing her caregiver, police reported.
Theresa Dargan was arrested Thursday by Long Beach police detectives and booked on suspicion of murder in the April 14 death of Olympia Riley, 51, of Long Beach.
Officers went to an apartment complex in the 1400 block of Walnut Avenue about 3:00AM that morning to assist firefighters with an unresponsive woman—later identified as Riley—who was subsequently pronounced dead at the scene.
“When officers arrived, they observed suspicious circumstances, and it was determined the woman had sustained stab wounds to the lower body,” according to a Long Beach Police Department statement. “With the assistance of the Los Angeles County coroner’s office, detectives began conducting a murder investigation.”
A possible motive for the stabbing has not been disclosed.
