Two people were arrested for driving under the influence and 22 citations were issued for unsafe driving during last Saturday‘s Saturation Patrol.

The Long Beach Police Department (LBPD) Traffic Section held the patrol from 6:00PM to 2:00AM on Saturday, December 3.

Anyone caught driving impaired can expect their DUI arrest to include jail time, fines, fees, DUI classes and other expenses that can exceed $10,000, according to the release.

Drivers are encouraged to download the free mobile app, Designated Driver VIP (DDVIP), which finds nearby bars and restaurants offering incentives for sober driving. The app also links social media including an exclusive tab for intoxicated drivers to call Uber, Lyft or Curb.

The LBPD will next conduct a DUI/Drivers License Checkpoint on Saturday, December 16.

The DUI Saturation Patrol was funded by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, reminding everyone to ‘Report Drunk Driver – Call 9-1-1’.
