Police on Wednesday asked the public’s assistance in finding a driver and vehicle that fatally struck a pedestrian in a series of hit-and-run collisions in Long Beach in mid-July.
The collisions occurred around 11:40 p.m. July 13 near Ocean Boulevard and Golden Avenue, according to the Long Beach Police Department.
Responding officers found a man in the roadway. Long Beach Fire Department personnel pronounced him dead at the scene.
The victim was identified as 53-year-old Brian McBroom, who police said may have been experiencing homelessness.
Police said McBroom was crossing Ocean Boulevard northbound outside a crosswalk when he was struck by a newer-model black SUV with black wheels that was traveling eastbound in the No. 2 lane of Ocean Boulevard, just west of Golden Avenue, police said. The SUV was last seen heading eastbound on Ocean Boulevard. Police released a photo of the vehicle Wednesday and asked anyone who recognizes it or knows the driver to contact them.
Police said McBroom was subsequently struck by a white truck and then a red sedan. None of the three drivers remained at the scene.
