Police and sheriff’s deputies surrounded a Bixby Knolls office building Wednesday morning after a car chase that started in Carson ended up in Long Beach. Authorities, however, couldn’t find the vehicle after searching the building’s underground parking structure.

A sheriff’s department helicopter alerted Long Beach police around 7:20 a.m. that a burglary suspect deputies were following was headed into Long Beach.

Soon after, the car pulled into the parking area of an office building at the corner of San Antonio Drive and Long Beach Boulevard, according to authorities.

Long Beach police helped sheriff’s deputies set up a perimeter, but after a search of the area, authorities weren’t able to find the vehicle, so they broke down the containment around 7:45 a.m., Long Beach police Lt. David Faris said.
