Long Beach police are investigating a stabbing near Pacific Avenue and Spring Street that was preceded by a family disturbance Tuesday night, authorities said.

Officers responded to the 3000 block of Pacific Avenue at about 9:10 p.m. where they found a man with a stab wound to his upper body, police said. Paramedics took him to a local hospital.

“Preliminary investigation revealed that the victim was in an altercation with a male adult suspect that resulted in the stabbing,” police spokeswoman Shaunna Dandoy said. It’s so far unclear what the nature of the altercation was.

Police arrested 29-year-old Jason Buscemi from Long Beach on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, Dandoy said. He was being held on $30,000 bail.

In a separate incident, police were called to the area of Pacific Coast Highway and Magnolia Avenue about a stabbing at about 11:40 p.m. Tuesday.

When officers first arrived the victim, a man, initially walked away from officers, police said. Later on while officers were looking around the area, they talked to the victim again, Dandoy said. Paramedics took him to a local hospital with a non-life-threatening stab wound to his upper body, Dandoy said.

Police think he was stabbed near Anaheim Street and the Los Angeles River, but they’re still investigating and didn’t have info on a suspect.

“The victim was uncooperative during the preliminary investigation and provided limited information regarding the incident,” Dandoy said.
