Long Beach police are at the scene of a shooting near a taco shop and Golden West Donuts on Pacific Coast Highway between Pine Avenue and Pacific Avenue on Friday afternoon.

Few details were immediately available, but police spokeswoman Arantxa Chavarria said officers were dispatched to the scene at about 12:35 p.m. for a report of a shooting in the area. Officers found a man with a gunshot wound to his upper body. Paramedics took him to a hospital in stable condition.

Bullet holes could be seen in the side of the doughnut shop near the shooting.

Chavarria said the suspect was just described as a man fleeing the scene before police got there.

Gang detectives are investigating the shooting and officers are still processing the scene.

Police blocked off traffic on Pine Avenue at 16th Street and PCH temporarily as they investigated.
