Police are looking for a hit-and-run driver who fatally struck a woman in West Long Beach.
The crash was reported about 3:55 a.m. Sunday, just north of the Long Beach Port. Officers were dispatched to the area of Ninth Street and Fashion Avenue and when they got on scene Long Beach Fire Department personnel were rendering medical aid to the woman, police said.
The woman was taken to a hospital, where she died from her injuries, according to the Long Beach Police Department, which said they were informed of the fatality on Wednesday.
“The preliminary investigation indicates a white Toyota Tacoma was traveling westbound on Ninth Street when it struck a pedestrian in the roadway outside of a crosswalk,” according to an LBPD statement. “The Toyota Tacoma fled the scene.”
The woman’s name was withheld pending notification of her next of kin.
