A man was wounded Wednesday evening when a gunman walked up and opened fire on him near Long Beach’s Wrigley neighborhood, according to police.

Police said they found out about the shooting only after the wounded man arrived at a local hospital around 7 p.m. He had a gunshot wound to the torso, which didn’t appear to be life-threatening, according to authorities.

Police said they don’t yet know a motive for the shooting but believe it may be gang-related. No description of a the gunman was available.

Police asked anyone with more information about the crime to contact Los Angeles Regional Crime Stoppers by calling 1-800-222-TIPS or visiting lacrimestoppers.org.
