Long Beach police think a bout of road rage caused a man to open fire on another driver but miss hitting him on Wednesday afternoon.

Police said the shooting happened around 4:30 p.m. on Atlantic Avenue just north of the 91 Freeway.

Investigators believe the shooter was in his car when he opened fire on the other man, Long Beach Police Officer Benjamin Hearst said. The victim wasn’t hurt, Hearst said.

The shooter was driving an older four-door sedan that was dark blue or navy, police said. A detailed description of the shooter wasn’t immediately available.

Police asked anyone with information about the shooting to contact detectives at 562-570-7514. Anyone who wants to submit an anonymous tip can contact Los Angeles Regional Crime Stoppers by calling 1-800-222-TIPS or visiting www.lacrimestoppers.org.
