An armed robbery suspect was arrested near Long Beach Airport after leading Los Angeles police on a dangerous chase that started in San Pedro, according to authorities.

The suspect, who was the only person in the car, started out on the northbound 110 Freeway in Wilmington before moving to surface streets driving at a high rate of speed, ABC7 reported. He then drove into the Long Beach area via the eastbound 91 Freeway, according to live footage of the chase, and exited onto surface streets into Lakewood and Long Beach.

The suspect tried to evade capture by driving on the wrong side of the street and squeezing past cars at intersections.

Footage showed the chase ending on East Carson Street before Clark Avenue in Long Beach after police officers performed a PIT maneuver.

The driver is in police custody, according to Officer Tony Im with the Los Angeles Police Department.
