A 37-year-old Long Beach man was killed after he was hit by two vehicles—including one with a hit-and-run driver—while he was crossing Seventh Street late Monday, police said.
The man, whose identity was not immediately released, was attempting to cross Seventh Street outside of a crosswalk at 9:54 p.m. near Pacific Coast Highway when he was struck by an unknown vehicle heading westbound on Seventh, police said. The driver fled the scene.
The victim, who was wearing dark clothing and lying motionless in the road, was then hit by a second vehicle heading eastbound on Seventh, police said. The driver, a 61-year-old Long Beach woman driving a Jeep Cherokee, stopped and rendered aid until Long Beach Fire personnel arrived.
The victim died at the scene. Police said neither alcohol, drugs or distracted driving where a factor for the driver who remained on scene.
Police do not have a description of the vehicle that fled.
Anyone with information regarding the collision is asked to contact Detective S. Fox of the Long Beach Police Department Collision Investigation Detail at (562) 570-7355.
